Rachel Shockey is a fine-art, visual artist specializing in oil and watercolor painting, with 20 years of experience. She is also the President and co-founder of Women in Apologetics, a ministry devoted to educating, equipping, and encouraging women in Christian apologetics. Rachel earned an MA in Christian Apologetics with highest honors from the Talbot School of Theology at Biola University (La Mirada, CA) in 2019. Her master’s thesis, The Intersection of Christian Apologetics and the Arts: The Power of the Arts to Convey Truth and Change Lives, explores the ability the arts have in conveying truth and their impact on Christian conversions. Rachel’s growing exhibition, Āhopian Tō: A Meta-Narrative of the Ultimate Narrative, is a sensory art experience that conveys the apologetic arguments and evidence that have led her to believe in Jesus Christ.

Rachel graduated with honors from Warner University (2008) with a BA in Contemporary Literary Studies and a minor in Communication. She received the Award of Excellence in her major for “outstanding scholarship, service, and conduct.” In the fall of 2006, Rachel attended the University of Oxford (Oxford, UK) through a study-abroad program and studied English Language and Literature. Her semester abroad at Oxford sparked a passion for Christian apologetics and a desire to use her artistic gifts to convey truth. Rachel’s love of literature and the sci-fi and fantasy genres also play a large role in her paintings.

Hailing from Ohio, Rachel lives in Lebanon, TN with her husband of fifteen years, Benjamin, and their two fluffy dogs. Rachel enjoys spending time with her 19 nieces and nephews.

Rachel officially opened her studio in 2010 and has sold numerous paintings to clients in the U.S. and internationally. She is sought out by many for her ability to bring ideas to life with vivid colors and light and for her ability to capture the likeness and essence of her subjects.
